The idea of Vetworks Eastern Africa as a regional Non-Governmental Organization was conceptualized in 2006 by group of veterinarians and livestock professionals working with livestock keeping communities in Eastern Africa. The Organization was established to support sustainable rural livelihoods of livestock dependent communities through livestock based initiatives.

Vetworks Eastern Africa is registered in Kenya and in Southern Sudan. The organization draws its membership from livestock sector professionals who subscribe and share ideas on how livestock sector should develop in the greater horn of Africa.

Vetworks Eastern Africa head office is in Nairobi.
